Collecting posters?
July 7, 2006Chinese posters and art prints of all sorts have been ‘trend’ in China ever since the printing and advertising industries kicked off in early 20’s of the 20th century. Floral art prints, lotus art prints, or bamboo art prints, to name a few, can be found in any Chinese market, and are inexpenssive. But do they last long? Is there any artistic value in them?

Once aged, are they just – posters?
Oil on canvas, ageing and aged artwork
July 6, 2006According to Cheryle Harrison: “All materials change with the passage of time, and react to the effects of handling and environment. Materials also interact with each other. An aspect of the conservation profession is a perpetual assessment of materials – the sources of materials, their use, how they change, and why.”
Aged artwork technique and treatment is no exception, however it minimizes the following effects that Ms. Harrison mentioned in the same article; “Temperature, light, moisture, and natural degeneration affect materials. Heat and light accelerate aging. Materials become brittle and degrade. Panels or canvas supports may warp or develop wave-like distortion. Materials may also flake, fade, or darken. Moisture can stain and decay materials. Bloom resulting from high humidity is a whitish haze that can visually disfigure an artwork’s surface. If a material is too wet, fungus may occur, and the material may just “slush” away.”
We are reluctant to use words such as preservation or conservation, however once fully treated our artwork does not require protection of glass or periodical maintenance apart from occasional dusting.
Contraction and expansion that occurs with the original artwork due to changes in humidity and temperature does not occur in normal conditions for very long period of time with aged artwork once it went through careful and detailed treatment.
Our technique reduces naturally occurring primary and secondary cracking to bare minimum and over very long period of time.
However, as Ms. Harrison said: “A patina of stable cracks is a part of an artwork’s character, charm and history.” Aged artwork gives you that character, charm and historical appearance as soon as it is completed.
Furniture with aged artwork
July 6, 2006If one would comment that the reproductions of famous artworks are not of recent date but rather centuries long practice well known to art lovers, then furniture with aged artwork inserted in it is somewhat rare if not unique. However, each piece we create is certainly unique and can not be identically reproduced.

Da Vinci Code Aged Artwork Way
July 6, 2006As it happened in Italy, during the 15th century, when Leonardo watched carefully how the craftsmen of his time applied masterful techniques on different materials, the long established Florentine tradition of aged artwork has still been applied in the same way by a handful of artisans and craftsmen.
Proudly presenting the first artwork in the blog, famous, – The Head of Leda done by Tony the youngest master aged artwork craftsman in the world.
Compare the unprecedented quality between Leonardo’s original, and aged but nevertheless artistic interpretation of the same theme.
As you can see from this image I found on this website [Drawings of Leonardo da Vinci]
Or
the original deteriorated over the centuries. Our techniques use, dare to say, interdisciplinary approach to each image, i.e. using chemistry, engineering, conservation and craftsmanship with thorough preparation to achieve the highest quality and prolonged lifespan. The result speaks for itself.
